Sachin Usha Vilas Joshi, an education activist and the founder-director of Espalier Experimental School and Espalier Heritage School, where he works on shaping students.
He is the founder director of the mobile school "Education on Wheels," through which he has integrated more than nine thousand underprivileged children into the mainstream. Now he is making India's 1st AI bus for underprivileged children.
He is the chairman of the Nashik School Association.
He is the first Indian to deliver a lecture on "Education and Democracy" at the European Council and European Parliament. Recently, he has been working as a Sustainable Development Goal Accelerator for SDG4 goals related to quality education in various countries under the UN.
He is an advisory director at NABET Delhi.
He is also active on various educational committees of the government, and he works on the curriculum committee according to the new national educational policy of the state government. While on the committee to make all government schools under the Nashik Municipal Corporation smart schools, he has transformed 80 government schools into smart schools.
He provides guidance on topics like academic education and parenting. Various videos on these topics are available on his YouTube channel "Sach Ki Pathshala."
Two of his books, "Mulanche Vyaktimatva Sakartana" and "Bhartiya Shikshan Sanskruti Che Shilpakar," have been published by Saket Prakashan, and three editions have been released so far. His book has received the Public Reading Award from educational expert G. V. Akolkar.
He has received various honors and awards and continually works on innovative education.
Recently, his Espalier Heritage School was awarded the first prize of 51 lakhs by the Maharashtra government, presented by the honorable Chief Minister.
His wife, Dr. Prajakta Joshi, supports him diligently in this work and manages the educational planning and administration of both schools.
In an effort to promote gender equality, Sachin Usha Vilas Joshi has included his mother's name in his full name and has made it mandatory for students at his Espalier School. He has been raising awareness about this for thirteen years, resulting in the government now requiring the mention of the mother's name in full names by law.
To minimize the use of plastic, he promotes plastic reduction, reuse, and recycling through his famous Espalier Plastic Band, which has also been recorded in the Asia Book of Records.
India recently announced a new national educational policy. Sachin Sir delivers well-researched articles and lectures on this educational policy.
शिक्षणक्षेत्रात मूलभूत बदल करण्याच्या हेतूने सचिन जोशी यांनी शिक्षणक्षेत्रात काम करण्यास सुरुवात केली. शाळेत असताना नेहमी Unit Test मध्ये नापास होणारे सचिन सर यांनी पुणे विद्यापीठाच्या विविध विषयांत पोस्ट ग्रॅज्युएशन करून 7 विविध पदव्या घेतल्या आहेत; पण एकही दिवस जॉब न करता त्यांनी सर्वप्रथम पुणे इथे ‘नापासांची शाळा' निर्माण केली.
अतिशय कमी वयात त्यांनी शिक्षणक्षेत्रात नवनवीन संकल्पना रुजवल्या. जिथे शिक्षण पोहोचू शकत नाही, तिथे शिक्षण पोहोचविण्यासाठी त्यांनी समाजकार्याच्या माध्यमातून भारतातील पहिली ‘फिरती शाळा' बनविली.
‘चाकं शिक्षणाची' या सामाजिक संस्थेचे ते संस्थापक, संचालक असून झोपडपट्टीमधील विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी फिरत्या शाळेच्या माध्यमातून ते “Support class” चालवतात. या फिरत्या शाळेला ‘लिम्का बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रेकॉर्ड' या पुरस्काराने सन्मानित केलं आहे.
"एज्युकेशन ऑन व्हील्स" -

"एज्युकेशन ऑन व्हील्स" – लिम्का बुक ऑफ रेकॉर्ड्समध्ये नोंद झालेली भारतातील पहिली फिरती शाळा. ही शाळा शिक्षण अभ्यासक सचिन जोशी यांनी १७ वर्षांपूर्वी सुरू केली. शिक्षणापासून वंचित विद्यार्थ्यांच्या समस्या सोडवण्यासाठी त्यांनी या संकल्पनेचा जन्म दिला.
विद्यार्थ्यांना घराजवळ शाळा नाही, शाळा असली तरी मुलं जात नाही, गेली तरी शिकतिलच असे नाही. या समस्यांवर उपाय शोधताना, सचिन जोशी यांना स्वदेश चित्रपटातील फिरती बस दिसली. त्यातूनच त्यांच्या मनात कल्पना जन्माला आली – फिरती शाळा. त्यांनी अशी बस तयार केली ज्यामध्ये ग्रंथालय, प्रयोगशाळा, संगणक, ब्लॅकबोर्ड आणि टीव्ही अशा सर्व सुविधा आहेत. त्यांच्या कामाची ओळख म्हणजे सौंदर्यदृष्टी आणि परिणामकारकता – जे काही कराल ते प्रभावी आणि सुंदर असले पाहिजे.
सचिन जोशी यांना त्यांच्या मित्र श्याम लोंढे यांची साथ लाभली आणि "चाकं शिक्षणाची" ही बस तयार झाली. या बसच्या माध्यमातून तब्बल १७,००० हून अधिक शाळाबाह्य मुलांना मुख्य प्रवाहात आणले गेले. शाळा सोडून देणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्यांचा शोध घेण्यासाठी त्यांनी "Every Child Counts" ही मोहिम राबवली. त्यांची ही संकल्पना राज्य शासनाने संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात राबवली.
या बसमध्ये झोपडपट्टीतील विद्यार्थ्यांना शिक्षण दिले गेले. गणित, विज्ञान, भाषा अशा विषयांमध्ये त्यांचे शैक्षणिक भविष्य उज्ज्वल झाले. रेड लाइट एरियामधील मुलींना सुरक्षित शिक्षण मिळवून देणे असो, किंवा नशा करणाऱ्या मुलांना नशेतून बाहेर काढून विज्ञान प्रदर्शनात पहिल्या क्रमांकावर आणणे असो, एज्युकेशन ऑन व्हील्स ने आपले कार्य अखंड चालू ठेवले.
सय्यद समाजातील मुलींना रूढी परंपरांमुळे शिक्षण मिळत नव्हते. या मुलींना शिक्षणाच्या प्रवाहात आणण्यासाठी बसने तीन वर्षे कार्य केले. पालकांचे प्रबोधन करून 300 मुलींना लिहिणे-वाचणे शिकवले गेले.
शाळा सोडण्याचे एक महत्त्वाचे कारण म्हणजे मुलींना शाळेत सोडण्यासाठी वाहतुकीची गैरसोय. त्यामुळे वीटभट्ट्यांवर काम करणाऱ्या पालकांच्या मुलांसाठी वाहतुकीची सुविधा उपलब्ध करून दिली गेली.
या फिरत्या शाळेमुळे भारतातील अनेक संस्था आणि एनजीओंनी शिक्षणा मधील विविध संकल्पना राबवण्यासाठी फिरत्या बसचा अवलंब केला. युरोपियन पार्लमेंटच्या "वर्ल्ड फोरम फॉर डेमोक्रसी" मध्ये सचिन जोशी यांना निमंत्रित करण्यात आले. भारतातील ते पहिले व्यक्ती होते. ४९ देशांच्या पंतप्रधान, शिक्षण मंत्री आणि शैक्षणिक प्रतिनिधींसमोर त्यांनी त्यांच्या प्रयोगांचा अनुभव मांडला. पुढे रेफ्युजी च्या मुलांसाठी हा प्रयोग तिकडे वापरण्यात आला.
आता या फिरत्या बसा एक टप्पा पूर्ण झाला. सचिन ला या सामाजिक कार्यात त्यांची पत्नी प्राजक्ता यांनी मोलाची साथ दिली. आता नवीन टप्पा सुरू होत आहे. 21 व्या शतकात कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता चा वापर करून शिक्षण अधिक सोपे करता येऊ शकते या संकल्पनेवर सचिन जोशी यांनी संशोधन सुरू केले. आता एज्युकेशन ऑन व्हीलची नवीन बस येत आहे.. "Skills on wheels". ज्या मध्ये आर्टिफिशल इंटेलिजन्स चा अधिक वापर केला आहे. त्याला प्रेमाने सर्व आपण म्हणूया "AI On Wheels". कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्तेचा वापर करून विद्यार्थ्यांना Foundation literacy, स्किल डेव्हलपमेंट, कम्युनिकेशन स्किल , डेटा सायन्स, आणि मशीन लर्निंगसारख्या आधुनिक शिक्षणाचे तंत्र शिकवले जाणार आहे.
थोडक्यात "एज्युकेशन ऑन व्हील्स" ही फक्त शाळा नाही, तर शिक्षणाला दिशा देणारी एक चळवळ आहे. प्रत्येक विद्यार्थ्याला त्यांच्या स्वप्नांच्या दिशेने उड्डाण घेण्यासाठी ही शाळा प्रेरणा देते.
म्हणूनच खुद्द मंगेश पाडगावकरांनी सचिन जोशी यांच्यावर कविता लिहिली.. "ज्ञानाचा प्रकाश झोपडयात नेशी.. धन्य धन्य होशील.. सचिन तू"
